I'm passionate about learning and sharing what I learn with others. My teaching focuses on expanding the student’s technical boundaries and rhythmic vocabulary, aiming to develop confident execution of musical accompaniment and expressive improvisations. While working with the unique language of any given instrument, I also focus on over-arching principles of body mechanics, universal practice methods, and targeted rhythm comprehension training that is relevant to any type of music-making.

“I really enjoyed our session and appreciated how [Jeremy] gave me a comprehensive intro to the instrument as well as prepared me for the gig!”

“Jeremy's teaching style is perfectly suited to fluidly move through as many instruments and musical genres as he does. Every lesson is a session of guided exploration; he not only expertly explains the subtleties of sound production and stylistic understanding, he teaches you how to think creatively in the practice room, personalize your approach to different instruments, and systematically develop improvisational vocabulary. Working with Jeremy opens your percussive world to completely new avenues, and will improve your adaptability no matter what style of music you play. I'd highly recommend any and all percussionists study with him!”

“Lessons with Jeremy have a strong emphasis on sound concept, deep time and rhythm intricacies, efficiency of movement and how movement relates to sound, and the importance of learning the INSTRUMENT (as opposed to just patterns and techniques). Not only is he able to demonstrate a concept, but he is great at verbally articulating it, for example, explaining exactly how to make a certain sound.
Jeremy often builds individualized patterns during the lesson that target a specific issue you’re having. He also puts the concepts to real-life applications by playing along to recordings in lessons and offering recordings to listen and practice to outside of the lesson. He is open to crafting the curriculum around what your individual needs/goals are, and doesn’t implement a one-size-fits-all style of teaching. Jeremy is fluent at so many different percussion instruments and styles, so you will never get bored! There will always be something new to learn from him, whether that’s a concept, style, or a whole new instrument. I also appreciate that he always summarizes everything at the end of the lesson in a very clear and concise way, so I always know exactly what and how I need to practice.”
